“If we all should play our part, wouldn’t it be so much better, it would
ease the pain, all the tears will fade, wouldn’t it be so much better”
Child abuse and neglect are issues that affect children worldwide but
right now, today, the focus is here in Jamaica. Eliminating the name
calling and repeated asking of questions with no answers, Help JA
Children is here to offer solutions, ensuring these issues are addressed
and a foundation is built to support the leaders of tomorrow, who are
the children of today.
“Help JA Children was founded after an article in the media gave the
nation a chilling reminder of the abuse Jamaica’s children face,
especially in the area of sexual abuse.”
After this chilling article was released, with paining stories of sexual
abuse from infants to teens, a call to action was sent out, and Help JA
Children emerged. On May 1st, Help JA Children has organized a march
and rally in Kingston, Jamaica. With support from personalities such as
2010 Miss Jamaica Universe, Yendi Phillips, radio diva Ms Kitty,
dancehall artist Tifa, Denyque, Keida, and Raine Seville, and a host of
djs including ZJ Sparks, DJ Richie Ras, and CopperShot Sound, Help JA
Children pleads with everyone, from major corporations to your next door
neighbor, to “play your part”.
To show commitment to the phrase “play your part”, (which
establishes that everyone has a hand in the success of a child’s future)
a theme song of the same moniker ("Play Your Part") has been
commissioned in partnership with PayDay Music Group.
The melodic and positively supportive single features a myriad of representation from the music community. “Play Your Part”
is produced by PayDay Music alongside Nigel Staff and boasts a host of
11 artist which includes Beres Brown, Bounty Killa, Cherine Anderson,
Chevaughn, Craig and Kevin from Voicemail, Konshens, Marlon Binns,
Omari, Raine Seville, and Red Rat.
All artist were eager to play a part in the making of such an honorable
theme and contribution to the HELP JA Children initiative. When speaking
on the opportunity to produce “Play Your Part”, PayDay Music simply
responded with this “We did it for the children.” and noted that all
proceeds from “Play Your Part” will go to HELP JA Children.
So please, as you read this, whether you are near or far, remember to
play your part. Support the single “Play Your Part” by purchasing on
digital outlets (available May 15th), donating to Help JA Children, or
by marching in the rally on May 1st.
