TOMMY LEE TO DROP NEW MIXTAPE THIS SUMMER 2012

Tommy Lee will be performing stage shows across Europe and the Caribbean later this summer
One of the former protégés of incarcerated Dancehall superstar, Tommy Lee seeks to establish himself as a major force in the post Portmore Empire era as he’s set to release his new mixtape this summer.

Tommy Lee has slowly but surely become a household fixture within Dancehall music within the last two years; releasing notable efforts such as Psycho, Warn Dem and Journeys. With his unique and somewhat mischievous sounding voice, the young deejay has become a force to reckon with going forward after perfecting his craft under the tutelage of long time mentor, Vybz Kartel.

Now Tommy Lee has set his sights on making his next career step as he’s set to unveil his new mixtape which will be unleashed this summer. Reportedly, the mixtape will feature several songs from different labels as he looks to build his growing repertoire.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, Tommy Lee said of his career progress, "I'm really happy with the direction my career is heading cause I have placed my all into it…"I am a freshman in the game, so there is lots more for me to learn."

Meanwhile, Tommy Lee believes that with the ever changing landscape of Dancehall music and with the many young musicians appearing on the scene, many acts must elevate their levels of creativity in order to survive within the genre.

"There is a new breed of dancehall acts now who are bringing their ideas to the game, therefore some persons need to adjust to the changes," he intimated. "With every generation comes new ideas and trends."

In addition to the mixtape, the artiste whose real name is Leroy Russell will be taking to the road this summer as the St. James native will be travelling to scheduled gigs in Europe and the Caribbean this month.

Tommy Lee along with fellow Vybz Kartel protégé, Gaza Slim both recently joined a new label dubbed PG13 after the Portmore Empire was officially disbanded just over a week ago. According to Kartel, each of the Empire members were fit and far along enough in their careers to fend for themselves and that it would be unfair to hold them to such a commitment given his ongoing legal troubles.
